Pat’s journey through business began in his family’s paint and varnish business, where he orchestrated one of the nation’s first leveraged buyouts, transforming Cook Paint into a joint venture with Total. He co-founded C3 Capital and Curran Companies, becoming a pillar in Midwestern business and leaving a legacy of successful ventures and investments across multiple sectors.
As a co-founder, his latest venture in CPC highlighted his vision for sustainable, long-term growth. At CPC, he cultivated a culture focused on thoughtful business ownership, supporting teams, and driving enduring success for clients and partners alike. Pat believed in a purpose-driven approach, prioritizing relationships and sustainable progress—a philosophy that continues to guide CPC today. He measured his success by the success of others, including his business partners who commented how fortunate they felt to have had him in their lives.
His influence extended beyond CPC, especially as a founding partner of Sporting KC. Pat’s passion for Kansas City and its sports was a hallmark of his life, alongside his service on boards of companies like Applebee’s International and Lockton Companies. Pat’s deep respect for entrepreneurs and his drive for excellence propelled teams and businesses alike, reflecting his belief in “learning fast” and pursuing ambitious goals.
Yet above all, Pat treasured family, friendships, and the joy of golf. He was a father, a husband, and a grandfather known affectionately as “G-Patty,” who found fulfillment in every aspect of life—from family gatherings to moments on the golf course.
Pat’s legacy and values will continue to inspire CPC. His leadership, unwavering principles, and dedication to sustainable success will remain at the heart of CPC’s mission, reminding all of us to pursue excellence with integrity.
